NESREA Seeks Collaboration with KWSG on Enforcement of Environmental Laws

In a bid to enhance environmental standards and regulations in Kwara State, the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Solid Minerals.

The Honourable Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Funke Shokoya who extended a warm welcome to the NESREA delegation expressed the state government’s commitment to collaborating with NESREA to ensure sustainable development and the well-being of citizens by highlighting the importance of synergy between the state and federal agencies as a way of achieving environmental goals.

In her response, the NESREA State Director, Mrs. Aremu Anike Zainab, expressed her gratitude for the hospitality extended by the Ministry and reiterated NESREA’s vision to foster an environmentally conscious society by regulating mining and quarry sites.

“The agency’s role as a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Environment has pledged to work closely with the state to uphold environmental standards”, she emphasized.

The courtesy visit which served as a platform for both parties to discuss strategies for effective collaboration and enforcement of environmental regulations was well attended by directors of the Ministry and other team members from NESREA.
