Nigerian Army Kicks Off Batch 2 Pre-Deployment Training to Boost Troop Readiness

Date:

The Nigerian Army has launched a new round of pre-deployment training aimed at enhancing discipline and operational readiness among troops nationwide.

The Batch 2 Pre-Deployment Training commenced on February 23, 2026, at the Kontagora Military Cantonment. AGL Haruna, Commander of the Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC), officially opened the exercise, which will run for four weeks.

The programme will focus on specialized warfare skills, including battle drills, survival training, mountain warfare, convoy drills, marksmanship, base camp security, counter-ambush operations, and ground sign awareness.

Addressing participants, Haruna emphasized that professional capacity and preparedness are key to effective performance in the field. “The best form of welfare for troops is first-class training,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of discipline, warning that misconduct would not be tolerated and defaulters would face sanctions. Troops were further urged to maintain the facilities and resources provided for the training.

Haruna acknowledged the support of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W. Shaibu, and commended instructors and personnel for their dedication to ensuring a robust learning experience. The inauguration concluded with group photographs and cheers from the trainees.
