Smartphone manufacturer TECNO has unveiled the global winners of its 2025 ‘Shot On CAMON’ Photography Contest, celebrating exceptional creativity and authentic storytelling from photographers across emerging markets.
In a statement released on Monday, the company said the second edition of the contest—held under the theme “Capturing the Pulse, the Bond and the Motion of Life”—received over 10,000 submissions from 56 countries, underscoring its position as one of the most inclusive mobile photography platforms worldwide.
Organised in partnership with Amateur Photographer magazine, the contest aims to empower creators to share genuine human experiences through visual storytelling powered by technology. TECNO described the initiative as part of its broader commitment to promoting digital creativity and cultural diversity across global markets.
According to the company, a total prize pool of $37,000 was awarded to outstanding participants. The Grand Prize winner—crowned TECNO Photography Master—received $10,000, while Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners earned $5,000, $3,000, and $1,000 respectively. Additionally, ten creators received the TECNO FriendPrize, each taking home a CAMON 40 Premier 5G smartphone.
This year’s top honour went to Nigerian photographer @micheal_the_colorist for his image titled “High Spirits.” Captured using the CAMON 40 Pro, the photograph depicts a group of friends mid-jump against a vivid blue sky—an energetic celebration of youth, colour, and freedom.
Commenting on the competition, Amateur Photographer Editor Nigel Atherton commended the originality and growth reflected in this year’s entries.“The 2025 Shot On CAMON contest shows clear evolution from its first edition—not just in participation but in creative confidence,” Atherton said. “Many photographers from emerging markets told powerful everyday stories with a distinctive visual voice. TECNO’s support for that kind of expression gives the project its real impact.”
TECNO’s Chief Marketing Officer Laury Bai said the contest embodies the company’s drive to showcase diverse perspectives through innovation.“Through Shot On CAMON, TECNO celebrates not just technical skill but the power of perspective,” Bai noted. “Every photograph tells a story—revealing the rhythm and connection of daily life. We want to inspire creators globally to share their unique vision.”
From May 1 to September 30, 2025, participants submitted entries across three categories—Snap Every Pulse, Snap All Fleeting Bonds, and Snap Any Motion—each encouraging exploration of emotion, connection, and movement.
Highlights from the competition included a stirring image of a young Nigerian girl running through sunlight in the Snap Every Pulse category, a tender shot of a boy caring for a goat in Snap All Fleeting Bonds, and a breathtaking depiction of a sepak takraw player in flight in Snap Any Motion.
TECNO also announced that all winners will participate in an exclusive London Photography Tour later in 2025, offering opportunities to collaborate, exchange ideas, and capture the rhythm of one of the world’s most photographed cities.
Winning images will be featured in TECNO’s annual photo book, global exhibitions, and across the company’s digital platforms to inspire future creators.
