The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) says it has enrolled no fewer than 127 million Nigerians in the National Identity Number (NIN) database as of December 2025.
NIMC spokesman, Dr Kayode Adegoke, disclosed the figure in response to enquiries on the latest enrolment data, adding that a detailed breakdown by state and region would soon be published on the commission’s website.
Adegoke urged Nigerians who are yet to register, or who need to correct their personal details, to take advantage of the commission’s digital platforms and enrolment centres nationwide.
Data available on the NIMC website show that as of October 31, 2025, total enrolment stood at 123.9 million, with Lagos State recording the highest number of registrants at about 13.1 million. The figures indicate a near-even spread of enrolments between northern and southern states.
Other states with high enrolment include Kano with 11.5 million, Kaduna with 7.3 million, Ogun with 5.1 million, Oyo with 4.7 million, and Katsina with 4.2 million. The Federal Capital Territory recorded 4.06 million registrations.
Rivers State had 3.6 million enrollees, while Delta and Bauchi states recorded about 3.2 million each.
At the lower end of the scale, Kogi State recorded 1.9 million registrations, while Enugu had 2 million. Kwara and Imo states recorded 2.09 million each, and Yobe posted 2.08 million.
Gender data from the commission show that, as of October 2025, about 69.7 million males and 54.2 million females had been captured in the national identity database.
