Following the recent protest by the Nigerian Labour Congress at the National Assembly Complex, Senator representing Benue south (PDP), Senator Moro Patrick Abba has urged the Federal Government to implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Universities which was meant to resolve the terrorism situation in educational system.

Abba disclosed this while speaking to some journalists on Thursday in Abuja after the NLC protest at National Assembly.

Abba said that the Union came to register their greviances over delayed implementation of MoU, adding that for a very long time, the Union has proposed a sympathy to warning strike for three days.

Speaking on his Bill in the 9th Senate, he disclosed that he has sponsored 12bills which one of them, University of health sciences establishment Bill has passed through 3rd reading and approved by the Senate and house of representatives has also Concord.

Abba added that there are other ones that are very vital such as “the veteran welfare fund Bill, establishment of North Central commission and others.

“The emphasis on development now is on zones so we even have our own commission at zonal level to take care of our zonal unique problems and local government autonomy Bill has been accepted as part of the constitution review, the electoral amendment Bill has also been adopted as part of the existing electoral act now.

“More importantly, you will recall that recently there was an out cry all over Benue state especially Benue south senatorial district for the need to support one of us on becoming the Governor of the State, unfortunately that didn’t happen upon every effort we put in place because we were not supported by the majority of the people to produce the next governor.

“So I came here and said, what can be done, maybe create a legislative intervention, provide for a Law that will compel all the political parties to select candidates from even minority areas, that is why I recently proposed a power rotation Bill to rotate governorship among the senatorial district and then the presidency between the North and the South.

“I believe this will create some peace, stability and also reveal the rich and attitude of our people because people know that Yes they can aspire to any position in the land no matter their status or where they come from, religion and tribe, if they know that that is possible, they will redouble their efforts and recommitment to the cause of the country.”

Abba therefore explained that these are the reason he brought up the Bill for a unique purpose to solve the unique problem of the people of Benue South senatorial district and it has also been beneficial to other communities across Nigeria.
