NMA advocates more research on HIV/AIDS prevention

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA),  Kwara branch has solicited the support of the three tiers of Government in Nigeria for more researches aimed at eliminating HIV/AlDS in the country

The Chairman of the Association in Kwara,  Dr Kunle Olawepo made the call in llorin on Friday in a statement commemorating the 2017 World HlV/AlDS day.

ROYAL NEWS gathered that the theme for 2017 world HIV/AlDS day is: “My Health,  My Right “.

Olawepo who expressed happiness that there are remarkable reduction on the outbreak of the disease noted that more support for researches will improve upon the present available treatment plans

The Chairnan in the statenent added that more researches on the causes of the disease would assist on preventio,, control activities and treatment.

The NMA in the statenent canvassed for the Provision of free and affordable treatme for all infected persons with HlV/AlDS in the country.

Olawepo urged the three tiers of Government  to further strengthen their health systems, equipment and manpower to make it cope with ever increasing challenges.

The NMA noted that the HIV/AIDS scourge is a war that can be won, with all hands on deck so that it can be totally eradicated

The statement identified symptoms of the disease as Persistent fever, chronic diarrhea, chronic cough, severe weight loss and rashes on the body.

According to the statenent, HIV infection occurs through sexual intercourse (heterosexual and homosexual) with an infected person, transfusion of HIV infected

Olawepo in the statement advised nigerians to embark on regular medical check up   physical exercises and avoid use of unsterilized syringes to avoid the dusease.
