The Registrar of the University of Ilorin, Mr. Emmanuel Dada Obafemi, has disclosed that reports from accreditation panels of the National Universities Commission (NUC) that visited the university recently are satisfactory.

“All the panels commended the University management for our keenness in ensuring that the students get the right materials to make them experts in their various fields”, he said while speaking with journalists.

Mr. Obafemi said, “The panels lauded the quality and quantity of the library materials, most especially the e-library that distinguishes the University of Ilorin from other universities in Nigeria”.

He added that, “With the various observations of the accreditation panels, all our programmes are authorised and accredited and they will continue in good form”.

The Registrar, who was recently elected the National Chairman of the Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities (ARNU), also disclosed that the admission exercise for the 2016/2017 academic session is closed in conformity with the deadline given by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Mr. Obafemi encouraged interested candidates to apply for the pre-degree programmes of the University of Ilorin, pleading with the numerous candidates that made the University of Ilorin their institution of choice to bear with the management because the University cannot admit more than the approved quota allowed it by the NUC.

“Forms for the pre-degree programme are already out and will close by 10th of January, 2017”, he further disclosed, explaining that candidates that passed through the programme are always considered first ahead of any other applicants. He, however, warned that they must pass their pre-degree examination as well as the JAMB examination.

According to Mr. Obafemi, the pre-degree programme will give some students greater and brighter opportunity to gain admission into the University for the 2017/2018 academic session. He also noted that those students who fail to meet up with the JAMB cut-off mark but pass the pre-degree examination stand another chance of using the pre-degree result for next year’s admission exercise.

The Registrar observed that by December 31, 2016, the University of Ilorin will be celebrating 17 years of uninterrupted of academic activities, stressing that the institution has gone far courtesy of the vibrant, dedicated and committed staff and students, as well as the various unions on campus that have been up and doing in ensuring that the University of Ilorin remains the most stable in Nigeria.

While encouraging members of the University community to maintain the level of their activeness, commitment as well as their dedication to work, the Registrar pledged that the University management will not joke with the welfare of staff and the students of the most subscribed institution in Nigeria.
