The perennial intra-union crisis rocking the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Oyo State has degenerated to undesirable one to the residents and commuters alike.

Just recently, a middle aged man, Mr. Ajayi, (other names withheld) according to our source, has been turned to a homeless and itinerant person due to the attack on him by the notorious members of the NURTW in his residence.

Mr. Ajayi, it was gathered became a victim because of his relationship with one of the factional leaders of the Union in Oyo State, Mr. Mukaila Lamidi, a.k.a. Auxiliary, who presently holds the position of the Chairman, Oyo State Park Management System(PMS).

Following information shortly after the current Government in the state came into being in 2019 that the parks in the state would be computerised with the connivance of Auxillary, the union leader became a target of attack and possible extermination by the opposing faction who felt threatened and uncomfortable with the idea of the computerization of the Park system.

Sources close to the Union disclosed that a notorious gang from the other faction stormed Olodo, Iwo road residence of Auxiliary on a Friday, the 28th of June, 2019, with the aim of attacking and assassinate him but he escaped and took cover at the residence of his friend, Mr. Ajayi, somewhere around Osuntokun Avenue, Bodija where he passed the night before sneaking out of the country in the early hours of the following day.

How the assailants got to know that it was Mr. Ajayi that harboured Auxiliary remains a mystery according to our source who further disclosed that the notorious gang of unidentified men laid siege on Ajayi’s residence the following Sunday and pounced on him like a hungry cat would to a mouse, while returning from Church in company of his wife.

Mr. Ajayi was said to have been dealt with mercilessly, beating with different dangerous weapons which inflicted deep cuts on his body, leaving him in the pool of his blood. Our source revealed that the grouse of the attackers was the inability of the victim to produce Auxiliary or lead them to his whereabout.

It was by the grace of God that the man was able to survive the attack. He had to relocate to an unknown location outside the state for fear of being tracked down by the assailants if learned that he survived.

This is one of the kind of agony the crisis in the Union has brought to some homes of innocent citizens without the government or the Police having lasting solution to it.

Anytime cisis erupted among the factions of the Union, there will always be records of death of members and innocent members of the public.

Mr. Ajayi’s case became worse when his supposed friend, Auxiliary became the right hand man of the state Governor and was made the head of the State Park Management System. Auxiliary was said to be very angry with Mr. Ajayi because of the disclosure of his escape destination when the assailants came looking for him in Ajayi’s residence.

Following the ugly development, Ajayi is today separated from his family, running helter sketer for fear of attack by the hoodlums said to be trailing him, having met his known Bodija address empty on several visits to the place.
