Brig. -Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called for an improvement in the welfare of corps members in Niger state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kazaure made the call at the opening of the 2017 Batch ‘A’ stream One orientation course in Paiko.

He also appealed to the state government to upgrade facilities at the NYSC orientation camp.

The NYSC chief charged States and Federal Government’s ministries, department and agencies to accept corps members deployed to serve in their establishments.

He noted that no state and Federal Government organisations was allowed to reject corps members as they were posted there for training.

On the increment of corps members monthly allowances, Kazaure said that such increment was predicated on minimum wage increment by the Federal Government.

He advised corps members to be disciplined and respect the culture and traditions of their host communities.

He also cautioned corps members against unnecessary journeys and night parties to guarantee their security in their areas of posting.

Earlier, Gov. Abubakar Bello of Niger, advised the corps members to adhere to rules and regulations of the scheme during the period of service.

Represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Ketso, the governor assured the scheme of government’s support through the provision of adequate security for members in the state.

Mrs Theresa Arokoyo, the NYSC coordinator in state, said that 1,906 corps members had been registered for the Batch ‘A’ stream One orientation course. (NAN)
