Ondo PDP Media Director Resigns Amid Party Turmoil

Date:

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing intensified internal tension following the resignation of its Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Leye Igbabo.

Igbabo stepped down just three days after Mrs. Dupe Aisida was elected as the party’s new state chairman during a congress in Akure. In his resignation letter to the PDP secretariat, he cited a “hostile and unfriendly environment” that hindered his ability to perform his duties effectively.

He accused party leaders of “utter deceit, compromise, indiscipline, and lack of sincerity of purpose,” adding that staying in such an environment would be a waste of his time and energy. “It is disheartening to note that the secretariat has become hostile to me, affecting the efficiency of my responsibilities as Director of Media and Publicity,” he wrote.

Igbabo’s departure comes amid ongoing defections from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and growing uncertainty around the party’s governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi. His absence from recent party activities, including the weekend congress, has fueled speculation that he may also be preparing to join the APC ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election.

The resignation highlights ongoing struggles within the Ondo State PDP, raising questions about party cohesion and its prospects in the upcoming polls.
