The National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) on Monday said it was deeply grieved by the attack at St. Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government of Anambra State in which many lives were lost.

NANS, in a statement by its President, Mr Chinonso Obasi, in Abuja, said that attack on innocent worshippers was an act of wickedness carried out by mindless people.

Obasi called on concerned authorities to thoroughly investigate the killings and bring the perpetrators to book.

According to him, no reason is enough to take any life; to say the least, congregation of worshippers.

“Just yesterday morning, Nigerians woke up to hear yet another dastardly attack that claimed scores of life and injured many during Mass at St. Phillips Catholic Church, Ozubulu.

“We commiserate with the Government and good people of Anambra State over this unfortunate incident.

“NANS also condoles with the families of the departed faithful and importantly, Catholic faithful worldwide.

“We wish those injured a speedy recovery and call on well-meaning Nigerians and governments across all levels to take up responsibilities for their quick recovery,’’ he said.

Obasi called on security agencies particularly the Nigerian Police to swing into action, unravel and prosecute those responsible for the attack.

He prayed God to grant peaceful repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the attack.
