The Oluwo of Iwo land in Osun State, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has once again explained why he seems to always find loopholes in the Yoruba culture and tradition.

The first class monarch disclosed that his position about the Yoruba race is very clear stressing that as a traditional ruler, no king under any guise is expected to bow for any other thing especially deities on earth.Why some people think I’m against Culture ---- Oluwo

He added: “If any I’m against culture, why will I be putting on Agbada which is globally known as a traditional regalia?”

The Oluwo who made his position cleared on Thursday at the ancient palace of the Emir of Ilorin along with his Queen and about 50 other traditional rulers, chiefs and clerics from Iwo-land.Why some people think I’m against Culture ---- Oluwo

Oba Adewale had visited the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, to pay homage and foster bilateral working synergy on how to move the two communities forward for the progress of their subjects.

According to him, “Since traditional rulers are the representatives of God on earth, why should we descend low and be worshiping other things that are capable of tarnishing our much cherished throne? God is the Supreme and it is high time we look inward towards eradicating some obsolete conducts. Any king you see worshiping any other thing(s) other than God is not worth to be address as a king.”Why some people think I’m against Culture ---- Oluwo

“As you can see very well that tribal marks among our people is gradually going into extinction. Not that tribal mark is not good but civilization has overruled such ideas which was much cherished in the past. Therefore, is time we look around us and dwell more on issues that will assist in the uplift of our people.”

Oba Adewale further stressed that he decided to visit the Ilorin Emirate Council due to the common Islamic heritage that exist between the two communities adding “Your Imperial Majesty, we in Iwo land and in line with Ilorin Emirate and we are ready to move along with you at all times because we appreciate the many good things happening here.”

The Oluwo also condemned in strong terms act of rituals which has led to the abduction of innocent souls either to make money or to appease the gods noting that “If there is blood money, the entire Nigerians ought to be as rich as Dangote.

“I don’t belief there is blood money and would continue to advise our people to be hardworking and find solace in the fact that only God has the power to do all things.”
