PUNCH Disowns Fake Recruitment Post Circulating Online

Date:

PUNCH Nigeria Limited has distanced itself from a fake recruitment advertisement circulating online, warning the public to disregard the post.

The management of the media company issued a statement on Wednesday disowning a job listing published by a website identified as Tekkareer, which falsely claimed that PUNCH was hiring an “AI/ML Engineer.”

The fraudulent post described the role as a full-time position based in Lagos, with qualifications listed as BA, BSc, or HND, and outlined detailed responsibilities for developing artificial intelligence and machine learning systems.

However, PUNCH clarified that the website and the advertised vacancy had no connection to the organisation. “The said post, which bears the logo of PUNCH Newspaper and contains a link that redirects to a website not owned or operated by PUNCH Nigeria Limited, did not originate from the company and is therefore a fraudulent misrepresentation,” the statement said.

The company added that it had reported the individuals or groups behind the scam to relevant security agencies for investigation.

“PUNCH Nigeria Limited hereby dissociates itself from the said post and advises members of the public to disregard it and be properly guided,” the statement concluded.

The management further urged job seekers and readers to rely only on official communication channels and the company’s verified website for authentic information regarding vacancies or career opportunities.
