The Federal Government and other concerned authorities have been urged to urgently direct the management of the Federal Government College, Ilorin to release students in its custody to return to their respective homes.

A concern parent who pleaded anonymity in a telephone conversation with ROYAL NEWS on Saturday expressed displeasure over the situation whereby pupils are kept in school despite the fact that there is ongoing strike action in Unity Schools nationwide.

The parent who is also a Senior Lecturer in one of the tertiary institutions in Ilorin the Kwara State capital added that, he had earlier contacted the Principal of the School, Mrs. Rita Okpaleke , who spurned the requests tabled before her.

It was however gathered that another Unity school in the state, Federal Government College , Omu-Aran has since released the pupils in its custody to return back home since there is no academic activities going on in the school premises.

“Our children are not prisoners. Since the service we paid for is not rendered, they should be released to us to prevent them from engaging in social vices. An idle hand is devil’s workshop. A student was declared missing last year and up till now, his where about is yet to be known”, he added.
