Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels, has failed in her bid to become the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
The election, held on Saturday during the Guild’s annual general meeting in Benin, Edo State, saw AGN National Secretary Abubakar Yakubu emerge victorious. Yakubu defeated Rita with 116 votes against her 113, while three ballots were voided.
With his victory, Yakubu becomes the first Northern actor to lead the AGN since its inception in the 1990s.
The outcome comes weeks after former AGN President Emeka Rollas publicly advised Rita to focus on her daughter Regina Daniels’ well-being rather than pursuing the presidential seat.
