A National Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress,( APC )Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, has called on Muslim faithful  to let the lessons of Ramadan continue to reflect in their deeds towards building a united nation.

In his congratulatory message issued from his media office in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital to felicitate with Muslims across the world on the celebration of Eid-fitri-celebration, Baraje also cautioned religious and regional leaders, politicians and youths against hate speeches and other divisive tendencies that could affect the unity of the country.

The APC Chieftain noted that at this period of economic quagmire and other security challenges facing the country, Nigerians must refrain from acts that could spark off crisis among different ethnic groups.

ROYAL NEWS reports that the party chieftain also  kicked against the call for secession from the Biafra agitators, saying that the country must not witness another civil war or unrest.

According to him, ” the recent agitations of the youths from the South Eastern part of the country for the declaration of Biafra Republic  has been dominating the events in the country. It is sad that most of these agitators have never witnessed war before, they don’t know the negative effects of it. It’s high time for the opinion leaders and traditional rulers to educate them, they should mould their opinions and quest for secession. They need to learn from history”.

Baraje therefore commended the steps taken by the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo by meeting the traditional rulers and elders  from the Northern and Southern parts of the country as well as the governors towards ensuring that peace reign in the country.

The APC Chieftain however called for regulation of the social media to ensure that hate speeches and other negative issues that could spark violence in the country are protected from public consumption.

He  also charged the Ministry of Information across the country and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to begin campaign and sensitization programmes on the traditional media on the unity of the country towards moulding the opinions of the people.
