Sallah: No better time to fix Nigeria – Gov. Sani Bello

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has urged Nigerians not to allow the zeal and commitment of the present administration to fix the country slip away, as there could be no better time than now to reposition the country to greater heights.

He gave this charge  while felicitating with the entire Muslim Ummah in the state and country on the celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Adha Sallah festival in a message signed by his Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Mr. Jide Orintunsin in Minna.

Governor Sani Bello stated that the present administration at the state and federal levels in the last two years have exhibited high sense of commitment to fixing the country and have persistently been working the talks of salvaging the country from the effects and the clutches of years of mismanagement.

“We have to ensure that the commitment of the present administration at the state and federal levels to fixing our country is not allowed to slip away. It is on record that no administration has given the much political will to reposition the country like the present one and we cannot afford to disappoint the future generations, by allowing the present opportunities to slip off.

” We have to strengthen our faith, be hopeful and remain supportive of this administration at all levels in our efforts to fully actualise the covenant of fixing the country of years of decay and mis management.

“We have no better time to get Nigeria out of the woods than now. We have to resolve as a people to ensure that our system, our economy, our socio-cultural values and ethos work again. We have to support government in our quest to see our country great again”.

This he said was necessary to serve as a catalyst that would always spur government to remain focused in the discharge of its responsibilities and commitments to the country.

The governor then advised Muslim Ummah to imbibe the lessons of sacrifice, patience, humility, obedience and fear of Allah which characterize the festival.

He urged them to internalise those virtues as examplified by the Prophet Ibrahim (AS) who demonstrated unequalled loyalty and obedience to God when he accepted to sacrifice his only son, Prophet Ismael who also accepted to be slaughtered in servitude to Allah (SWT).

The Governor used the occasion to  assure Nigerlites of more people-oriented developmental projects that would be fast-tracked and evenly spread across the state in fairness to all in the years ahead.

He noted that the recent of MoU with Dangote Group and other agreements entered into with some Development Partners in Sugar, Rice and Shea butter production across all value-chain were testimonial to the readiness of the state to takeoff industrially.

“As a government, we have demonstrated strong resolve to champion the state’s economic prosperity and we will remain focused on this objective until the state becomes net exporter and able to generate employment and enough IGR to sustain itself and depend less on FAAC”.

The governor, who expressed delight over the relative peace enjoyed in the state, reminded the citizens to remain proactive and support the state security apparatus in checkmating potential criminal intentions before they are hatched.

He wished the Muslim Ummah successful and hitchfree Sallah celebration and prayed for a rewarding Hajj exercise and journey mercy back home for all pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
