Saudi Cup 2024 begins today with $37.6m in prize money

Saudia, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, announced its strategic partnership for the Saudi Cup 2024, the fifth edition of the world’s richest horse race.

The event, held under the esteemed patronage of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, will take place at the King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh, featuring a total prize pool exceeding $35 million.

In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Bandar bin Khalid Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Equestrian Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jockey Club Of Saudi Arabia, the sponsorship agreement was formally inked by Moataz Alandijani, General Manager of Sponsorship and Partnerships at Saudia, and Ziyad Al-Muqrin, CEO of the Jockey Club Of Saudi Arabia.

Saudia’s sponsorship will be prominently showcased during the Al Sarawat Cup race, scheduled to take place on the opening day, on Friday, February 23, with an allocated prize of $250,000.

Commenting on the partnership, Moataz Alandijani, General Manager of Sponsorship and Partnerships at Saudia Group, said:

“Through this partnership, Saudia reaffirms its commitment to supporting major events within the Kingdom, including the Saudi Cup, which features high-level international participants and attracts the attention of global media.”

“ Equestrianism holds profound historical and cultural significance in Saudi Arabia, and this year’s Cup will be even more extraordinary as it will be taking place at the same time as Saudi Founding Day, a highly important commemoration date for our nation.”

Commenting on the partnership, Ziyad Al-Muqrin, CEO Of The Jockey Club Of Saudi Arabia, said, “ We are honored to sign this partnership agreement with Saudia, a reputable airline, dedicated to excellence. And its sponsorship of the Sarawat Cup in its inaugural launch, undoubtedly contributes to enhancing the equestrian race.”

The Saudi Cup, organized by the Jockey Club Of Saudi Arabia, will unfold on Friday and Saturday, February 23 and 24, at the King Abdulaziz Equestrian Square in Riyadh, showcasing the finest talents from 15 counties.
