School Principals charged on future leadership development in Kwara

The Kwara State Government has tasked Principals of Senior Secondary Schools across the State to continue to contribute their quotas towards securing the future of students, as leaders that build future leaders.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, stated this yesterday at the floating exercise, which marks the commencement of The West African Certificate Examination (WAEC) registration, with the Principals of Senior Secondary Schools across the State at Saint Anthony’s Secondary School, Ilorin.
Hajia Modibbo appreciated the unrelenting efforts of the Principals at ensuring good working relationship with the Ministry and improving the quality of education in the State, commending them for ensuring that only official fees are allowed in the schools.
She warned the principals to shun examination malpractices, saying whoever is found wanting will face the consequences of such act.
According to her, “I want to appreciate the Leadership of this body for the support the Ministry has always received from them. This is one of the reasons we are making progress as far as our schools are concerned.”
The Commissioner said the Ministry will not tolerate extra charges from any Principal apart from the one approved by the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, warning them against all acts that can dent their images during the examinations.
Hajia Modibbo also solicited the support of the Principals for the AbdulRazaq-led administration, which she said is wholeheartedly committed to the welfare of teachers and the citizens.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Tauheed Abubakar Bello, who was represented by the Deputy Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply of the Commission, Alhaji Hassan Abubakar, applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the remarkable development in the education sector in the State.
Mallam Bello explained that the present administration has done justice to improving the teachers’ welfare.
Earlier, the Director, Curriculum and Assessment Department of the Ministry, Mrs. Victoria Funmilayo Adewuyi, gave the breakdown of the approved registration fees for WAEC 2023/2024 thus:
WAEC Charges: #27,000.00
E-regisration Charges: #1,250.00
Administrative Charges: #2,000.00
Total fees to be paid: *#30,250.00
The President of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Kwara State Wing, Comrade Usman Abdulahi, applauded Governor AbdulRazaq for putting the right people to run the affairs of the education sector in the State.
He thanked the Governor for revamping the education system in the State through the rehabilitation and construction of schools across the three senatorial districts of the State, recruitment of qualified teachers to all primary and secondary schools across the State, prompt payment of salaries and training and retraining of teachers.
The President promised to justify the confidence reposed on them with full commitment and dedication to the discharge of their constitutional duties.
