Security Forces Intercept Vehicle Linked to ISWAP Operations

Date:

Nigerian troops have intercepted a vehicle suspected of carrying logistics linked to ISWAP, the Islamic State West Africa Province, in a security operation in the North East. The operation was reported on X by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who confirmed that the troops were from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Chabbal of Operation HADIN KAI.

The interception took place on February 26 along the Maiduguri–Gubio main supply route during routine checkpoint and vehicle search operations. Troops stopped a Toyota pickup truck suspected of transporting terrorist supplies, acting on intelligence from local sources.

During the search, the military recovered large textile fabrics reportedly used by terrorists, 20 Hilux tyre tubes, motorcycle spare parts, 10 cutlasses, and three mobile phones. The items were hidden under planks in the vehicle and the tyres were also suspected to be linked to ISWAP logistics operations.

Three male occupants of the vehicle were detained and, along with the seized materials, handed over to the 7 Mechanised Infantry Brigade for further investigation and intelligence gathering. The operation underscores ongoing efforts to track and dismantle ISWAP supply networks.

Makama noted that the arrest and seizure form part of broader initiatives by Nigerian security forces to curb terrorist activities across the North East region. Authorities continue to focus on disrupting ISWAP logistics and preventing attacks in vulnerable communities.
