Shehu Alimi Contest: Emir of Ilorin presents Hajj slot, cash awards to winners

The emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has presented slot for Pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the overall best winner of the Shehu Alimi Foundation for Peace and Development competition held in Ilorin during the last Ramadan fasting.

ROYAL NEWS reports that the contest which was conducted by the National President of the Foundation, Sheikh Dr. AbdulKadir As-Salman Alfa Oba-Solagberu, during the regular Live Radio Programme, finally produced five overall winners.

They are; Ustaz Lawal Olatunji Yusuph (Overall best winner) AbdulBasit Muhammad Jamiu (2nd position) Mohammed Hassan Olamilekan amd AbdulHameed AbdulRoheem (3rd position winners)
and Ahmad Yahaya Gegele (5th position).

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari restated his commitments to the promotion of love, peace and harmony among the diverse ethic groups especially adherents of faiths in the Ilorin Emirate and beyond stressing that, ” Youths are integral parts of the society and must be well catered for and encouraged at all times.”

He however commended for their outstanding performances which earned them recognition and awards of honour adding that his purpose of establishing Shehu Alimi Foundation for Peace and Development is really fulfilling and commendable.

Earlier, the national President of the Foundation, Dr. Alfa Oba-Solagberu thanked the monarch for supporting the foundation in the actualization of its mandates.

In their goodwill messages, the National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, (IEDPU), Alhaji Uthman Otta, the Danmasani of Ilorin, Engr. Suleiman Yahaya Alapansanpa and the former Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeals, Hon. Justice Idris Haroon (rtd), commended the leadership of the foundation for the strong-will and commitments to the promotion of Islamic orientations in the society among others.
