South African music sensation Tyla has clinched the award for Best Afrobeats at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards with her chart-topping single “PUSH 2 START.”

The announcement on Monday morning marked another milestone in the global rise of Afrobeats and African music. Tyla, who celebrated the win with fans on social media, described the recognition as a dream come true.

Her victory reflects the expanding influence of African artists on the international stage. Nigerian stars Asake, Burna Boy, Rema, Tems, and Ayra Starr were also nominated across multiple categories, underlining Africa’s growing dominance in shaping global music trends.
