Nigerian media personality and former Big Brother Africa winner, Uti Nwachukwu, has weighed in on the disqualification of Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Faith, following her altercation with fellow contestant Sultana.
Faith was disqualified on Thursday after the heated clash, which sparked widespread debate among viewers. Commenting on the incident via his X handle, Nwachukwu cautioned against labeling conflict instigators as victims while condemning those who react, even without resorting to violence.
“Could she have acted better? Yes! Could he have handled it better? Yes! A trigger is just as grave as a reaction. It is incredibly narcissistic to label the one who triggered/created/fueled the situation a victim and then label the one who reacted (without hitting the other) an Abuser,” he wrote, urging fans to “learn the lessons” rather than focus on sentiment.
Nwachukwu, a longtime commentator on the show, described his remarks as an analysis of events seen live, not clips circulated online.
The Big Brother Naija rule book prohibits violence, provocation, bullying, and victimisation, with organisers reserving the right to impose penalties, including disqualification.
Faith now joins a list of ex-housemates who have faced similar disciplinary action. In 2019, Tacha was disqualified for fighting with Mercy, who herself received two strikes for provocation. In 2020, Erica was expelled after multiple infringements, while Beauty was disqualified in 2022 for aggressive conduct.
The incident continues to draw reactions from fans, with debates centered on accountability, provocation, and fairness in the enforcement of the show’s rules.
