The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced medical screening for intending pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise, a key step to ensure the health and safety of all participants from the state. The exercise began on Tuesday at Hadejia General Hospital.

Director General of the board, Umar Labbo, emphasized that the screening is part of the ground preparations and that only medically fit pilgrims will be allowed to perform Hajj in line with Saudi Arabian regulations.

Labbo, accompanied by the Director of Operations, Muhammad Garba, assured that the screening process would be conducted with transparency and fairness, leaving no stone unturned in preparing pilgrims for the pilgrimage.

The exercise is designed to guarantee that all procedures are strictly followed, with medical personnel tasked to assess the health of intending pilgrims to ensure they are physically fit for the journey.

Intending pilgrims expressed relief and excitement over the screening process. First-time pilgrim Aisha Mohammed praised the professionalism of the medical team, while Abdullahi Yusuf, who has long awaited this opportunity, described the screening as thorough and expressed hope for a successful outcome.
