Lagos APC Hails EU’s Nigeria Delisting

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed the European Union’s decision to remove Nigeria from its list of high-risk countries for money laundering and terrorism financing.

The party described the move as a strong endorsement of Nigeria’s ongoing reforms and evidence that the country is making steady progress in strengthening its financial and regulatory systems. The EU decision also affected South Africa, Burkina Faso, Mali, Mozambique and Tanzania.

In a statement on Saturday, the Lagos APC spokesman, Seye Oladejo, said Nigeria’s delisting was the result of deliberate and sustained efforts by the Federal Government.

“This delisting is not accidental,” Oladejo said. “It reflects sustained improvements in Nigeria’s financial governance architecture, stronger regulatory oversight, improved inter-agency coordination, and a renewed commitment to transparency and global compliance.”

He added that the decision validated reforms aimed at tightening safeguards, improving enforcement and aligning the country with international best practices.

According to Oladejo, the development has significant economic implications, including restoring investor confidence, easing cross-border financial transactions and reducing compliance burdens for Nigerian businesses.

He said the delisting sends a clear signal to the global community that Nigeria is open for business in a credible and responsible manner.

The APC spokesman also took a swipe at opposition critics, saying the decision undermines efforts to portray Nigeria negatively abroad. “Independent international institutions have verified a different story—one of progress, discipline and reform,” he said.

The Lagos APC commended the Federal Government for its resolve and urged Nigerians to take pride in the achievement, stressing that consistent reforms, rather than rhetoric, are improving Nigeria’s global standing.

Oladejo called on stakeholders to support ongoing reforms and “reject the politics of pessimism,” adding that Nigeria is gradually regaining trust and credibility on the international stage.

APC Backs First Lady Tinubu Over Adeleke Intervention

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has defended First Lady Oluremi Tinubu following her public intervention during Governor Ademola Adeleke’s speech at her coronation as Yeye Asiwaju Ile Oodua in Ile-Ife on Sunday.

During the event, Mrs Tinubu reportedly threatened to turn off the microphone as Governor Adeleke began singing, sparking widespread attention and debate online.

In a statement released Wednesday, Lagos APC spokesperson Seye Oladejo reaffirmed the party’s support for the First Lady, describing her actions as measured, patriotic, and well-intentioned.

“The Lagos State chapter of the APC stands firmly behind First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her timely counsel to Governor Ademola Adeleke, urging him to prioritize governance over public performances,” the statement said. “Her intervention, delivered at an event hosted by the revered Ooni of Ife, was neither demeaning nor condescending. It was rooted in statesmanship, motherly wisdom, and a genuine concern for the dignity of public office.”

The party argued that public office demands focus, discipline, and commitment, emphasizing that entertainment should never overshadow leadership responsibilities.

“Governance is a sacred mandate entrusted by the people. While culture and self-expression are important, they must not eclipse the essential duties of leadership,” the statement added.

According to the APC, Governor Adeleke’s public performances have drawn attention away from pressing state issues, including economic development, healthcare, education, youth employment, and infrastructure.

The party stressed that leaders should be measured by performance and policy outcomes rather than public applause or entertainment.

APC also warned against portraying Mrs Tinubu’s actions as an attack, calling such claims “disingenuous and misleading.” The party described her advice as a patriotic reminder intended to preserve the dignity of the governor’s office and uphold public expectations.

“History is unkind to leaders who mistake popularity and entertainment for competence and effective governance,” the statement concluded.

APC Slams PDP Over ‘Confused’ Zoning Policy for 2027 Presidential Ticket

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for what it described as an inconsistent and confused approach to zoning its 2027 presidential ticket.

In a statement on Thursday, APC spokesperson Seye Oladejo said the PDP’s latest decision to throw the ticket open to all zones—after initially zoning it to the South—shows the party is in disarray. He described the move as “a roadmap to nowhere,” insisting it reflected the opposition’s lack of direction.

Oladejo argued that the APC’s growing popularity under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has unsettled the PDP, forcing it into repeated policy reversals. He accused the opposition of indecisiveness and of disregarding constitutional provisions when it previously attempted to exclude some regions from the race.

“The truth is simple: the larger-than-life image of the APC under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has so overwhelmed the PDP that it no longer knows whether to go left, right, or in circles,” Oladejo said.

He dismissed the PDP’s open-ticket policy as a sign of weakness rather than inclusion, adding that it exposes internal crises and power struggles within the party. According to him, the PDP has become “a political gambling house where desperate politicians are invited to test their luck.”

Oladejo recalled that the PDP’s zoning crisis ahead of the 2023 polls triggered defections and rancour, which he said culminated in electoral defeat. He added that while the opposition continues to struggle with its identity, the APC remains focused on governance, reforms, and delivering democratic dividends.

“For the PDP, the 2027 election is already lost, not at the ballot box, but in the circus tent they now call their party,” he concluded.
