Nigeria’s leading petroleum industry stakeholders are preparing to chart a new policy direction for the downstream sector, according to the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.
In a statement on Wednesday, Ugochinyere said the forthcoming Downstream Week would bring together lawmakers, regulators, and major industry players for high-level policy and market discussions aimed at ensuring clarity, investment growth, and enhanced security in the sector.
He revealed that prominent figures including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed; President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote; and the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Gbenga Komolafe, would headline the event.
Ugochinyere noted that while Speaker Abbas would declare the event open, representatives from the NMDPRA, NUPRC, Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) would deliberate on the sector’s future.
Describing the gathering as Nigeria’s most influential downstream industry summit, he said it would celebrate progress made so far, identify persistent challenges, and propose sustainable solutions to boost stability and growth in the sector.
“In partnership with leading industry players, this summit fosters collaboration and innovation for sector growth. Be part of the conversations that shape the future,” he added.
