Following appeal to the authority of the University of Ilorin to re-open its portal for successful students in various examinations such as, JUPEP, NECO, IJMB etc to upload their results for consideration for admission for various courses this academic year., the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) on Thursday commended the leadership of the Kwara State House of Assembly, for the action taken.

According to a statement signed by the national coordinator of the group, Ibrahim Abdullahi, “It should be noted that several candidates were unable to upload their results into University of Ilorin portals due to the delay in the release of results of these various Examining Bodies this year. By the time the results were released, the University of Ilorin had closed its portals The portal was closed since last month.

“It is clear that the delay in presenting these results were not the fault of the candidates nor that of Unilorin, but that of the Examining Bodies. Candidates, their Parents and Guardians  should therefore not bear the brunt of such delay, as the University supposed to be magnanimous and sympathetic to the cause of the candidates by re-opening the portals even if for only two days.

“MMWG commend members of the Kwara State Legislature for raising the appeal to Unilorin which is well placed and timely. As the admission process is on-going in all Universities together with Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), University of Ilorin should be considerate and re-open the portals, please.”

He further stressed that, “We specially appeal to the Senate and Governing Council of the University to consider this request and act fast before it is too late.

“The KWHA needs be commended for several actions it has taken since June this year when it was inaugurated… Its impactful decisions on health, education, social welfare,  recovery of looted property and other anti-corruption postures rate the 9th Legislative Assembly higher among others.

“It is hoped that Hon. Yakubu Danladi – the Speaker of the Legislature and his members would maintain the trend of catering for welfare and the demands of the populace as it is currently doing.

“It should be noted that the positive response of Unilorin to this request would not only be beneficial to Kwarans alone but the citizens of the Nation as a whole as candidates seeking admission to Unilorin are not only in this Country but also in diaspora.”
