Unilorin promotes 583 staff
In fulfillment of his promise that no deserving staff would be denied promotion, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and Chairman, Association of West African Universities (AWAU), Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), has approved the promotion of 583 staff, cutting across all cadres of the University.
ROYAL NEWS learnt that promotions to the professorial cadre are, however, still awaiting ratifications by the relevant authorities.
Those promoted include 112 Academic staff, 127 Registry staff, 245 Professionals and Technical staff and 99 Junior staff.
This was contained in a Registry memo, titled “List of Newly Promoted Staff with effect from 1st October, 2016” and made available to Unilorin Bulletin from the Directorate of Human Resources.
The memo stated that the Senior and Junior Staff Appointments and Promotions Committees at their separate meetings considered the recommendations from the various Heads of Departments/Units and approved the promotion of the affected staff.
It further stated that the 112 Academic staff promoted comprised 36 Senior Lecturers, 41 Lecturer I and 35 Lecturer II.
Those promoted under the categories of Registry, Professional and Technical staff were one Senior Lodge Supervisor; four Higher Lodge Supervisor Porter; one Principal Technologists; four Technologist I; one Technologist II; one Assistant Chief Medical Laboratory Scientist; one Assistant Chief Medical Laboratory Technologist; one Medical Laboratory Technologist; four Deputy Directors; one Deputy Bursar ; three Chief Accountants; four Accountant I; one Assistant Chief Executive Officer; one Senior Executive Officer; 12 Higher Executive Officers(Acct.); one Senior Store Officer; one Principal Apiary Superintendent I; one Senior Apiary Superintendent I ; 21Senior Technologists; seven Technologists; three Principal Technologists; one Principal Technical Officer I; three Assistant Chief Technologists; one Principal Planning Officer ; three Chief Technologists and one Planning Officer.
Others are one Chief Computer Engineer; one Principal Data Analyst; two Programmers; two System Analyst I; one Senior Technical Officers; one Chief Computer Operator; three Principal Counsellors; two Assistant Directors (Protocol); one Principal Information Officer; four Senior Information Officer; five Information Officers; two Chief Signers; two Signer I; two Signer II; one Senior Workshop Supervisor; one Higher Tractor Supervisor; five Laboratory Supervisors; two Senior Technical Officers; one Senior Technical Officer II; one Coordinator; one Principal Medical Officer II ; one Senior Pharmacist; two Nursing Officers; two Senior Executive Officers (Audit); one Senior Legal Officer; one Legal Officer; one Senior Laboratory Superintendent; three Zoo Superintendents; and one Gardening Supervisor.
Also promoted are two catering officers; one Senior System Analysts; two Assistant Chief Technologists; one Assistant Chief Pharmacy Technician; two Senior Laboratory Superintendents; two Deputy Chief Security Officers; six Security Officers; one Senior Registrar II; one Chief Animal Health Supervisor; one Chief Quantity Surveyor; one Chief Civil Engineer ; two Chief Electrical Engineer; one Principal Civil Engineer; one Principal Electrical Engineer; one Maintenance Officer; two Engineer I; 17 Senior Transport Officers; 28 Workshop Superintendent Officers; six Senior Workshop Supervisors; seven Higher Transport Supervisors; one Horticulturist I ; one Higher Estate Officer; two Senior Works Supervisors; one Principal Programmer; five Chief Computer Operators; one Chief Medical Laboratory Technologists; and one Assistant Chief Medical Laboratory Technologist.
Other beneficiaries are two Deputy Registrars; two Senior Assistant Registrars; 18 Assistant Registrars; 18 Administrative Officers; one Assistant Chief Executive Officers; five Principal Executive Officers I; five Principal Executive Officers II; eight Senior Executive Officers; 29 Higher Executive Officers; two Chief Confidential Secretaries; one Assistant Chief Confidential Secretary; two Principal Confidential Secretaries II; two Chief Secretariat Assistants; 20 Senior Secretariat Assistants ; two Principal Registrars; one Principal Internal Auditor; one Principal Civil Engineer and one Chief Quantity Surveyor .
In the Junior Category, the letter further stated that 99 staff were promoted. They include 50 staff from CONTISS 04 to 05; 23 staff from CONTISS 03 to 04; 23 staff from CONTISS 02 to 03 while three staff were promoted to CONTISS 02 from 01.
Those promoted from CONTISS 04 to 05 included “eight Senior Clerical Officers to Assistant Executive Officer; one Chief Porter to Assistant Supervisor Porter; two Higher Health Assistants to Senior Health Assistants; one Senior Farm Assistant to Assistant Farm Supervisor; two Field Overseer I To Foreman Gardening; one Data Entry Operator I to Computer Operator I; one Senor Store Keeper to Assistant Chief Store Keeper; one Craftsman to Foreman Operator; one Senior Operator to Foreman Operator; one Senior Craftsman to Foreman;2 Head Drivers to Senior Driver Mechanical and Chief Driver and 29 Assistant Patrol Supervisors to Supervisors”.
Others, who were also promoted from CONTISS 03 to 04 included “two Clerical Officers to Senior Clerical Officers; eight Supervisor Office Assistants to Caretaker; one Head Cook to Chief Cook; one Laboratory Assistant to Senior Laboratory Assistant; one Farm Assistant to Senior Farm Assistant; one Craftsman to Senior Craftsman; seven Senior Patrolman to Assistant Patrol Supervisors and two Health Assistant I to Higher Health Assistants”.
Those promoted to CONTISS 03 from 02 also included “two Clerical Assistants to Clerical Officers; one Head Office Assistant to Supervisor Office Assistant; 10 Operator II to Operator I and 10 Drivers to Senior Drivers II, while those from CONTISS 01 to 02 included “two Office Assistants to Head Office Assistants and one Laboratory Attendant to Head Laboratory Attendant”.
