Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has urged the club to sign another forward before the transfer window closes, following their Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The Dutch international stressed the importance of reinforcing the attacking line after the summer departures of Luis Díaz to Bayern Munich and Darwin Núñez to Al-Hilal.
“We just lost Darwin, he went to Saudi, and we lost Lucho, who went to Bayern,” Van Dijk told talkSPORT. “There’s always room for an attacker to strengthen us, so let’s see what the window brings.”
Liverpool have been linked with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who is reportedly interested in joining Arne Slot’s squad, although no agreement has been reached with the Magpies.
