VC reads riot acts to Al-Hikmah varsity’s new students



The Vice Chancellor, Al-Hikmah University Ilorin, Prof. Noah Yusuf has warned the 1,243 Matriculating students to shun all forms of social vices such as cultism, indecent dressing, examination malpractice, sexual misbehaviour

The Vice Chancellor, who gave the warning on Friday at the Matriculation of the students in Ilorin, urged the students to avoid bad company and be good ambassadors of their respective families, state and the nation.

“In all, the University is matriculating a total of 1,243 students across all the seven Faculties of the University, namely, Agriculture, Education, Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, Management Sciences as well as Natural and Applied Sciences.

The VC asdured the students that the Management would do all its best to provide the best learning condition to enable thw students have a memorable academic experience in our institution.

“To this end, the University has been equipped with up-to-date facilities required to enhance learning, teaching and research – lecture rooms, hostel accommodation, internet access, physical and e-ibrary, sporting and recreational facilities.”

Prof Yusuf reminded the students of their only mission for enrolling in Al-Hikmah University – to obtain their first degree.
and urged them to abide with the following admonitions:

” Do not be distracted by any extraneous events, rather be focussed. Work hard so that you can graduate in record time. Shun bad company and be good ambassadors of your respective families, your state and the nation.

” Obey school rules and regulations as the contravention of any of University rules shall be met with stiff penalties. Devoid of acts th tantamount to negative tendencies which are against good character and learning.

“Shun all forms of social vices such as cultism, indecent dressing, examination malpractice, sexual misbehavior. Refraim from all anti-social behaviours that could mare your academic success and your future. Set a goal for yourself and work hard to attain such goal.

” Endeavour to persevere in all situations. That is, the spirit of “never say No”. Rather, forge ahead inspire off all odds. If you do so, success is assured.”

Also, Prof Oguntola Alamu, former Vice Chancellor, Osun State University, in his Matriculation lecture,  said education is an indispensable asset, saying education increases knowledge, opens doors, improves skills, promotes enlightenment and brings about personal as well as national development.

According to him, education has always been a tool by the rulers of any society either to further the objectives of the community or to regulate the society itself.

“Nigeria deserves a modern and vibrant education system that ensures the maximum development of the potentials of
individuals and promotes a knowledge-driven society that propels the nation’s development.

“It has become imperative to revisit the attempts made sometimes ago with the decision that all Lecturers must have an
Education certification for professionalism.”

Oguntola advised Nigerian youths to be prepared to change the status quo of being
redundant in an aggressive economic transformation of our country and take the lead/ be part in all the transformation
decision-making programmes. Read your books and devote your time to your studies. 

The Registrar, Dr. Kazeem Oladimeji administered the Matriculating Oath to the students, and were formally admitted as bona-fide students of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin. 

The event was attended by the Founder and Chairman Board of Trustee, Chief AbdulRaheem Oladimeji, OFR  and members of the Council and Senate of the institution.
