Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), according to reports by Arise TV.
The governor’s defection reportedly includes 23 members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly who have also switched allegiance to the APC.
The development comes less than 24 hours after Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, similarly joined the ruling party.

Although official details remain unclear, sources indicate that Governor Diri and the lawmakers are expected to formally announce their defection in the coming days.
The move adds to a growing list of defections by federal and state legislators to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
