Welfare: Gov. Alia urged to extend supports to orphange homes

Governor of Benue State, Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has been called to assist immensely towards the sustenance of welfare of the motherless children at Talitaculmi orphange foundation.

Mr. Felix Orkumba made the disclosure on Saturday while speaking to ROYAL NEWS correspondent in Makurdi, Benue State.

He explained that the orphange home was established in 2002, stressing that the inspiration was derived from the church when his mother was a choir director.

” Though, he didn’t mention the name of the the church, but stressed that she is a nurse by profession and was subsequently elevated as matron before she was finally disengaged from service.

Orkumba however stressed that at least fifteen motherless children were trained and graduated in relevant disciplines in various universities across the federation.

“About Eight of them are currently undergraduate in some of the universities at the instance of the foundation. ”

The spokesman further highlighted that the founder of the orphange foundation is a philanthropist all these while she adopted these children just to nurture them and make life more meaningful for a better society.

Orkumba, a son to the founder disclosed that his father (names withheld ) was transferred to Benue in 1990 with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) before he eventually gave up the ghost.

” Originally we,re from Asaba, Delta state, but we spent better part of our lives here in Makurdi, stressing that the people are very hospitable.”

According to him, the burden of offering welfare is much, that’s why we sought feom spirited Nigerians to complement our efforts for the upkeep of those that we are catering for as condition of living is no longer easy.
