Eschew rivalry in joint operations, Badaru tells Service Chiefs

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, mni, CON says tackling the nation’s insecurity won’t be business as usual under his watch.

Mohammad Abdulkadri in a statement issued on Wednesday said the Minister gave this assurance on his assumption of office at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

Badaru, who re-echoed the need for all security agencies to eschew rivalries in joint operational environment to end insecurity, assured that all actionable intelligence, pending committe reports and recommendations on ways to end insecurity will be duly reviewed.

While promising remarkable changes in the nation’s defence architecture, the Minister said there will be monthly meeting with security agencies in a bid to fine-tunning strategic collaborative engagements towards dealing decisively with emerging threats to national peace and security.

Earlier in his remarks, the Minister for State Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, MON said multu-faceted approaches will be deployed to checkmate insecurity.

Matawalle said the defence capabilities of the nation’s Armed Forces will be reinvigorated under their in the current dispensation.

He said more fighting equipment will be prioritised, adding that, “Local community participation in national defence and improved regional collaboration to stem the waves of crossborder crimes will be vigorously pursued in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity.
