The ongoing feud between American artists Nicki Minaj and SZA intensified this week, as the R&B singer responded to recent claims made by the rapper regarding their musical success.
The dispute began Tuesday night when SZA appeared to take a subtle jab at Minaj on social media, prompting the rapper to launch a lengthy rant on X (formerly Twitter). In the posts, Minaj targeted Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) executive Punch and asserted that she had achieved greater international success than SZA.
Minaj claimed she had performed in countries where SZA “isn’t even known,” suggesting her global appeal far surpasses that of the Grammy-winning singer.
In response, SZA shared a screenshot of a past message exchange, allegedly showing Minaj or her team reaching out for a collaboration. SZA claimed she had turned down two separate feature requests from the rapper.
“You absolutely know my music and what I contribute,” SZA wrote in her caption. “You’ve asked for features twice to no response. In addition to rapping my lyrics on ‘Feeling Myself’—‘Cooking up the bass looking like a kilo’? Lol. You’re having a moment… I’m not sure why, but be blessed.”
The post referenced a lyric from Minaj’s 2014 song “Feeling Myself,” which featured Beyoncé, and appeared to challenge Minaj’s claim of unfamiliarity with SZA’s work.
Neither artist has issued further statements as of the time of this report. The online exchange has since sparked widespread debate among fans on social media.
While both artists have previously enjoyed critical and commercial success, this public fallout marks a rare instance of direct conflict between two prominent female figures in American music.
