The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Katsina State has firmly denied claims that its 34 local government chairmen recently defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a strongly worded statement released on Monday, NNPP State Chairman, Alhaji Armaya’u Abdulkadir, described the reports circulating in traditional and social media as completely false and misleading.
“No local government chairman currently serving under the NNPP has defected to the ADC,” Abdulkadir stated.
“What happened is that some of our former members left the NNPP for the APC shortly after the 2023 presidential elections. It is those same individuals, now in the APC, who have allegedly joined the ADC. So, the defection was from APC, not NNPP.”

Abdulkadir accused media outlets of misrepresenting the situation to score political points or create confusion ahead of the 2027 elections. He urged the public to disregard the reports, emphasizing that the NNPP remains intact and committed to its political agenda in the state.
