Speculation surrounding the health of former APC National Chairman and ex-Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has intensified following reports alleging he is critically ill in a London hospital. However, his aides and family members have denied the claims, affirming that Ganduje is in stable condition.
In an exclusive interview with Newsmen on Monday, Ganduje’s Chief of Staff, Comrade Mohammed Garba, confirmed the 75-year-old politician is currently in London but refuted reports suggesting a critical illness. “He is fine. It’s common for someone of his age to have minor health issues, but the claim that he’s in critical condition is untrue,” Garba said.
Garba explained that Ganduje has remained in London since the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, which also explains his absence at the funeral. “We spoke with him just last night. There is no problem,” he added, noting that the family would not conceal any serious health issues from the public, especially if prayers were needed.
A family member who requested anonymity also dismissed the rumours, confirming that those in close contact with Ganduje had reported no serious concerns. Ganduje stepped down from his APC leadership role in 2024, citing health reasons, but later assumed a position as Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), prompting mixed public reactions and political speculation.
