Host nation Morocco will take on Ghana in a high-stakes Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) semi-final on Tuesday, July 22, at the Stade Olympique in Rabat.
The Black Queens are making their first appearance in the WAFCON semi-finals since 2016 and are eyeing a place in the final for the first time in nearly two decades. For Morocco, a win would secure back-to-back appearances in the final, after finishing runners-up in 2022.
The Atlas Lionesses have shown strong form throughout the tournament, topping Group A with two wins and a draw, and scoring a tournament-high 10 goals. They defeated Mali 3–1 in the quarter-finals, with standout performances from Ibtissam Jraïdi and Kenza Chapelle. Captain Ghizlane Chebbak currently shares the tournament’s top scorer position with four goals.
While Ghana and Morocco have never met in a competitive fixture, they have clashed five times in friendlies. Morocco leads the head-to-head with three wins to Ghana’s two, including a 1–0 victory in their most recent meeting in February 2025.
Both sides are chasing a maiden WAFCON title and a place in Sunday’s final, setting the stage for a compelling showdown in Rabat.
