The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through its Air Component of Operation Fatan Yamma, has neutralized at least 95 terrorists in targeted airstrikes conducted around Ragada and Warari villages in Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to sources cited by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the operation was carried out on Tuesday around 3:00 p.m., following intelligence that a large group of armed militants was moving from Zamfara through Kebbi into Niger State.
The insurgents, reportedly traveling in a convoy of 108 motorcycles and armed with high-powered weapons, were intercepted by NAF fighter jets en route to Warari and Rijau.
The airstrike was executed at the coordinates 10° 54′ 1.51” N and 5° 25′ 4.96” E, resulting in the elimination of the majority of the fighters. Only 13 out of the 108 armed men were said to have escaped the bombardment.
An intelligence source confirmed the successful operation, which was based on prior surveillance and tracking of the insurgents’ movement across the northwestern corridor.
Local residents in Makuku, Ragada, and Warari have reportedly expressed relief and appreciation for the government’s renewed efforts in addressing insecurity and eliminating criminal threats in the region.
The operation is part of a broader military strategy to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the northwest and improve security across affected communities.
