Governor Hope Uzodimma has called on aspirants who lost in the recently concluded primaries of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State to accept the outcome and work together for the party’s success ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Uzodimma made the appeal during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre in Owerri on Monday.
The governor urged aggrieved party members to embrace reconciliation and move past the primaries in the interest of party unity and electoral victory.
According to him, the APC in Imo must remain united and focused as preparations begin for the next general elections.
Uzodimma also stressed the need for the South-East region to strengthen its influence in national politics by delivering strong support for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
He commended Tinubu for supporting development projects in Imo State, saying several infrastructure and social renewal initiatives in the state had benefited from federal government backing.
“We must work harder to ensure that President Bola Tinubu gets a huge number of votes from this state in the coming election as a show of gratitude for his support and goodwill towards Imo and the South East,” the governor said.
State APC Chairman Austin Onyedebelu praised Uzodimma’s leadership, describing the primary election process as peaceful and transparent.
He appealed to unsuccessful aspirants to accept the results in good faith, noting that political contests naturally produce both winners and losers.
Several aspirants who participated in the primaries also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise and pledged continued loyalty to the party despite the outcome.
Party leaders and successful candidates at the meeting further emphasized the importance of unity and consolidation ahead of the 2027 elections.
