The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) has branded its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, an “Uber politician” who jumps between political positions without commitment.
In a statement personally signed on Friday, Abure accused Obi of elevating political subterfuge and “crying wolf where there is none.”
According to Abure, Obi has “booked a place for himself in the Guinness Book of Records” as a politician affiliated with multiple political parties at the same time — allegedly driven by desperation to become Nigeria’s president.
“Unfortunately, Obi has turned himself into an irony and a paradox in Nigerian politics,” Abure said. “He has become an ‘Uber politician,’ unwilling to take a position and stand by it.”
The comments came in response to Obi’s recent directive to his supporters, urging them to back African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidates in the August 16 by-elections across various states.
