Wilfred Ndidi praises Besiktas fans after winning club debut

Date:

Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi has expressed delight following his debut for Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas in their 2-1 victory over Eyupspor on Sunday.

Ndidi, who joined the Istanbul giants from Sky Bet Championship outfit Leicester City two weeks ago, started the match under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The midfielder featured for 70 minutes before being substituted for Demir Tiknaz after picking up a minor knock.

Speaking after the match, the 28-year-old hailed the passionate Besiktas supporters, describing their backing as crucial in helping the team secure the win.

“The atmosphere was great. The support from our fans was fantastic. When the score was 1-1, we showed real team spirit and their backing pushed us to fight for the second goal. It was a great day, we feel fantastic,” Ndidi told reporters.

The midfielder is now expected to feature again on Thursday when Besiktas face Lausanne in their UEFA Europa Conference League playoff tie.
