The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Kano Zonal Command, has taken custody of 12 female victims of human trafficking, aged between 15 and 50. The victims were intercepted on Sunday at Karota Luxurious Park, Hotoro Western Bye-Pass, while allegedly being trafficked to Ghana and onward to Saudi Arabia for labour exploitation.
Zonal Commander Abdullahi Babale confirmed the rescue on Monday, noting that the victims, from Kano, Katsina, Borno, Jigawa, and Zamfara states, were lured with promises of jobs abroad. One suspect, Mohammed Saleh, 45, was arrested, while efforts are underway to apprehend others linked to the trafficking network. Babale commended the Kano Hisbah Board and state authorities for their support and said the victims will receive counselling and rehabilitation before being reunited with their families.
