The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on Abuja residents to embrace peace, compassion, and unity as Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
In a statement on Friday, Wike described the occasion as a reminder of the Prophet’s teachings of love, kindness, and acceptance. He commended FCT residents for their commitment to harmony, noting that their cooperation has supported the administration’s progress in security, infrastructure, and essential services.
Wike reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure, healthcare, security, and emergency services, urging residents to support these efforts by obeying laws, paying taxes, and actively participating in civic duties. He also encouraged them to strengthen community ties through friendship, tolerance, and programs that promote social cohesion and economic growth.
The minister further called for prayers for the peace and prosperity of the FCT and Nigeria, while appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support for the capital’s development. Eid-el-Maulud, marked annually in Nigeria with prayers, lectures, and community service, has traditionally been used by leaders to promote national unity and peaceful coexistence.
