At least six people have been killed in suspected cult-related violence in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, with five bodies recovered along the Oreta riverbank on Wednesday and another victim gruesomely murdered in Bayeku on Tuesday.

Residents told PUNCH Metro that the Bayeku incident involved a man whose wrist and leg were severed, while speculation remains over whether his death was linked to cultism or a land dispute. In Oreta, five corpses were discovered by the riverside under unclear circumstances, sparking fears across the community.

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hammed Aroyewun, visited the affected areas with security officials, condemning the killings as “painful and unacceptable.” He pledged that the council, working with security agencies, would track down those responsible and restore peace.

The incidents come amid a surge in cult clashes across Lagos, including a separate confrontation on Lagos Island earlier in the week that left three suspected cultists dead during a festival. Police authorities have yet to comment on the Ikorodu killings.
