Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has declared that Mikel Arteta’s side boasts the strongest squad in Europe this season and must turn their quality into silverware.
Speaking on CBS Sports after Arsenal’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Athletic Club on Tuesday night, the Frenchman said the Gunners now have “almost two teams” in terms of depth and quality.
“Right now, nobody has a team as deep as Arsenal,” Henry said. “Some clubs can challenge their starting XI, but when you look at the whole squad, it’s complete. Even with Odegaard, Havertz, Saka and Gabriel Jesus missing, the bench still looks strong.”
The former Barcelona striker insisted that expectations have never been higher for Arteta’s men.
“It’s a must this year to win something. You can’t hide,” Henry stressed.
Turning to the Premier League title race, Henry believes it will come down to a battle between Arsenal and Liverpool but warned against dismissing Manchester City.
“I think it will be Liverpool and Arsenal fighting, but you can’t rule out City. They’re adapting with new players. PSG also have their struggles with injuries,” he added.
Arsenal have made a strong start to the campaign, winning three of their first four league games. They host Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in what could be an early test of their title credentials.
