The Nigeria Police Force has announced that full enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit (TGP) regulation will begin nationwide on October 2, 2025.
In a statement signed by ASP Mohammed Halima, Police Public Relations Officer for AIG Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, the Force urged motorists, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State, to ensure their vehicles have valid and verifiable permits.
βThis enforcement is in strict compliance with the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 2004, which remains a vital security regulation used to curb criminal activities and enhance public safety,β the statement read.
The police noted that the grace period previously granted for obtaining or renewing permits has expired. Vehicles with tinted windows must now present approved documentation during routine checks or risk impoundment and possible prosecution.
Motorists were advised to process or revalidate their permits through the official portal,www.possap.gov.ng.
βCompliance with this directive is not only a legal duty but also a collective effort toward ensuring public safety and national security,β the police stated, urging residents to cooperate with enforcement officers.
