As Nigeria marked its 65th Independence anniversary, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman (Ɗangaladiman Ningi), has urged leaders to honour their commitments while calling on citizens to uphold values that promote peace and progress.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, Suleiman said prayers for the nation remain vital but must be matched with concrete actions from those in leadership to achieve genuine development.
“Our beloved Nigeria has been a shining light in Africa upon which many countries look forward to. Nigeria’s 65 years of independence were marked with transformations, but still more needs to be done on security and the economy to make the country favorable for investors. Citizens must shun unethical conduct and serve as good ambassadors of their families, communities, and states,” he said.
He emphasized the need for unity and collective responsibility to raise living standards, stressing that health, education, agriculture, security, and infrastructure should remain top priorities for government.
The Speaker prayed for Nigeria to overcome its challenges and called on leaders to exceed citizens’ expectations by delivering on their promises with accountability and commitment.
