Public commentator Joe Igbokwe has called on the Federal Government to protect the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from what he described as a powerful network of land grabbers operating in Abuja.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Igbokwe alleged that the group constitutes a “potentially dangerous and formidable cartel” that has been involved in illegal land activities for years.
“Abuja land grabbers are professional thieves. They are vicious, potentially dangerous, a formidable cartel. It has been going on for years,” he wrote, adding that the scale of the operation is “big” and that the perpetrators act as though FCT lands belong to them. He ended the post with a call: “FG protect Wike!”
Igbokwe’s comments follow a recent confrontation between Wike and a naval officer who reportedly blocked the minister from accessing a parcel of land in the capital.
A viral video of the heated exchange circulated widely earlier in the week, sparking national discussion on land disputes and security in the FCT.
