Katsina Hisbah Destroys Over 120 Cartons Of Alcohol

Date:

The Katsina State Hisbah Board destroyed more than 120 cartons of seized alcoholic drinks in Funtua on Thursday as part of its enforcement operations against items deemed contrary to Islamic teachings.

The exercise was led by D.C. Bashir Lawal Balarabe, Commander of the Hisbah Board in Dandume Local Government Area, with officials from the Funtua zone. State Commander-General Sheikh Malam Aminu Usman (Abu-Ammar), PhD, also supervised the operation.

Officials said the alcohol was confiscated during routine patrols aimed at curbing the consumption, distribution, and trafficking of intoxicants prohibited under Islamic law. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to address rising moral concerns in the region.

Islamic scholars present at the event reiterated the religious prohibition of alcohol and highlighted its negative impact on society.

Commander-General Usman stated that the board has intensified its campaign against alcohol-related activities following the re-establishment of the Hisbah by Governor Dikko Radda.

He commended the governor for strengthening the institution to tackle moral and social challenges in Katsina State.

Senior Hisbah officials from the Funtua zone and Islamic scholars from various parts of the region attended the destruction exercise.

The operation reflects the board’s commitment to enforcing Sharia-compliant regulations and promoting public morality across the state.
