Nigerian Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has accused fellow singer Wizkid of using a nickname he claims to have adopted first.
Kuti made the allegation during a recent livestream after a Wizkid fan suggested he should change his nickname, “Big Bird,” because Wizkid is also known as “Biggest Bird.” Rejecting the suggestion, Kuti said the name had been associated with him long before Wizkid began using a similar moniker.
“Wizkid stole my name. Tell your fave to be original,” Kuti said. “Why are you telling me to change my name? Sorry, I can’t change it. This name has been here since. I am the first to come up with it. I am not dragging it with anybody.”
